Chagga Culture and Coffee, situated in the foothills of Mount Kilimanjaro National Park, is a family owned local tour business offering visitors a rare insight into the local coffee production process right in the heart of the Materuni village. As Materuni village is so close to Moshi town, it is an ideal option for those visitors who have limited time but would still like to experience the culture, nature and beauty that this region of Tanzania has to offer.
During your time with Chagga Culture and Coffee you will hike through picturesque farmland on the way to the stunning Materuni waterfall. This waterfall is a true wonder of this area, where you will witness crystal clear, glacial water pour over 95 metres into the rocky basin below.
After visiting the waterfall (and having a refreshing dip in its clear waters, or visiting the hidden cave if you so choose) you will return to the family home where you will be served a hearty meal of local delicacies, including fruits grown on the local nearby farms.You will then have the opportunity to learn traditional ways of growing and harvesting the coffee and be involved in the process of preparing it for drinking. You will then brew your very own cup of Chagga coffee.
